Rear wall grab bars shall be 36 915 mm long and mounted so 24 610 mm are to the transfer side of the toilet and the other 12 305 mm to the wall side. Side wall grab bars should be at least 42 inches in length with one end 12 inches or less away from the wall behind the toilet and one end at least 54 inches away from that wall. Each grab bar shall be installed 15 inches 380 mm maximum from the head end wall and 12 inches 305 mm maximum from the control end wall. Both types of bars have to be between 33 and 36 inches above the finished floor.

A grab bar 24 inches 610 mm long minimum shall be installed on the control end wall at the front edge of the bathtub. Rear wall grab bars must be at least 36 inches long. Grab bars must be installed between 34 and 38 inches above the floor and there must be a separation between the grab bar and the wall surface of at least 1 1 2 inches.
